Since 1996 with only a few exceptions an electronic coded transponder chip has been embedded in the plastic body of the key. The chip requires no battery as it is energised from the vehicles ignition, this code is read by the electronic Immobiliser when the key is in the ignition.
If the transponder chip is broken or missing, the key will turn but the engine will not start.
To rectify this problem you will need the services of qualified Auto locksmith to program a new transponder chip to the vehicles immobiliser so the vehicle will accept the new chip and allow the engine to start.
Many earlier cars came with a red master key not intended for normal use. The locksmith uses the master key to programme a new or replacement key for the car.
If you damage or lose the master key it could cost hundreds of pounds to replace through a main dealer, and in some cases you may have to replace the complete engine management system just to get a new Key!!!
Car manufacturers under pressure from the insurance companies have now stopped using the master key system.
We have a Better solution if your car uses a master key system, and in most cases We can save you over 50% on Main Dealer prices ….
